Following the death
of his father, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, returns home to
find his uncle now occupies the throne and the queen's bed.
Spurred by the ghost of his father and surrounded by spies,
Hamlet must avenge his father's murder. An incisive portrait
of a thinking man forced to act under chilling circumstances,
Shakespeare's greatest revenge tragedy is perhaps the most
widely read play in Western literature.

"Signal Ensemble Theatre plays
it straight with a masterful production - faithful
to text and tone - marked by a bravura performance by Christopher
Prentice in the title role…Ambitious and passionate,
this is a 'Hamlet' for purists…you won't want to miss
it." — Barbara Vitello, Daily Herald full
review
"This production is the work of the Signal Ensemble, a
company quickly forging a reputation for elevating
everything it touches." — Mary Shen Barnidge,
Windy City Times
"Director Ronan Marra finds honest humor in many of Shakespeare's
darkest, most disturbing corners…And Signal Ensemble Theatre's
self-described straightforward production is blessedly free of conceptual
clutter." — Justin Hayford, Chicago Reader
Prentice demonstrates his mastery of one of the toughest roles
in theatre. His Hamlet is a true tour de force. Prentice has, indeed,
put his mark on Hamlet that we’ll not soon forget. Director
Ronan Marra has assembled a wonderful, articulate cast and his staging
keeps the mood mysterious in a smart, ambitious and worthy classic
interpretation of the beloved Hamlet. This show is far
more than storefront Shakespeare—it is excellent Shakespeare!"
